From glittering fireworks displays to illuminated winter wonderlands, enchanted gardens to a night of Indian folk music, this month is all about things that make you go ‘wow’. Follow this list for the most spectacular events the city has to offer this November.

There’s something special about November. It’s the month when the city reaches into the most magical recesses of her imagination and puts on a truly wonderful show. Lots of shows, in fact. As the Christmas lights are strung over Regent Street and fireworks burst through the sky at the beginning of the month, the city dishes out her bright offerings throughout November. Start your month with a bang and don’t let it go out.

Fireworks Night in Victoria Park

After a five-year hiatus, Fireworks Night in Victoria Park returns to light up the skies of East London accompanied by an atmospheric soundtrack. Join thousands of Londoners to huddle and stare in awe at the fantastic sparkling skies above.

Hackney Firework Pyromusical

This year the Hackney Firework Pyromusical theme is Superheroes. Marvel (see what we did there) at the family-friendly fireworks which will be choreographed to a mix of classic superhero tracks. Last year’s themed entertainment included fire walkers and illuminated stilt walkers. This year, join the showstoppers by coming dressed as your favourite caped (or un-caped) crusader.

Alexandra Palace Fireworks Festival

Perched high above North London, Alexandra Palace provides a dramatic backdrop for a night of fireworks, funfairs and entertainment, including face painting, ice-skating and a Bavarian beer festival for the adults. Gates open from 3 p.m., the bonfire is lit at 6 and the main display explodes across the skies from 8.

Coram’s Fields Fireworks Display

The Coram’s Fields Fireworks Display in Bloomsbury takes place at the playground where, famously, adults may enter only if theyre accompanied by a child. Fireworks start as soon as the night falls around 5 p.m., but arrive early to get a good spot.

Winter Wonderland via Website

Alice in Wonderland

Celebrating 150 years of Alice in Wonderland, this exhibition explores how Alice’s antics down the rabbit hole have captured our imaginations for so many years. See Lewis Carroll’s original manuscript with hand-drawn illustrations, plus a pop-up shop dedicated to the girl of honour. Happy birthday, Alice!

Winter Wonderland

The luminous Winter Wonderland takes over Hyde Park once again this November. There are fair rides, an ice kingdom, circus shows and mulled wine to warm your cockles. Open till 10 p.m. daily (except Christmas), it offers a magical day or night out.

The Enchanted Woodland

Enter an Enchanted Woodland at Syon House’s 600-year-old gardens on the outskirts of the city. It’s more than worth the trip to see their hundreds of trees glowing at night in a rainbow of hues thanks to specially designed illuminations.

The EFG London Jazz Festival 2015

With more than 2,000 artists, 300 shows and 50 venues this year, The EFG London Jazz Festival brings its jazz-scatting hands to the city for 10 days. The 23-year-old festival includes concerts, club events, talks, workshops and all that jazz.

Music of India

This evening of performance features classical north Indian music and folk music from Rajasthan. Music of India is part of the V&A India Festival. Visit the Raphael gallery after hours for a concert inspired by the Indian monsoon and more colourful delights.

Light and Dark Matters

Over the course of 24 hours the Tate Modern delves into a contemplative world of Light and Dark Matters. Join leading artists, scientists, philosophers and theorists for sunrise and sunset walks, talks and collaborative workshops around this most illuminating subject matter.

D.I.Y. Art Market

The D.I.Y. Art Market is a celebration of London’s creative independence. Showcasing a curated selection of more than 60 artists, it’s a great place to discover a new wave of independent publishers and emerging and established artists. Items for sale include ceramics, zines, illustrations, photography, jewellery, comics, custom tees, homemade cassettes, screen prints and records.
