The Stayful Team’s Favorite Summer Travel Memories

For the Stayful team, summer isn’t complete without seasonal travels! Whether it was an old favorite, or a spontaneous getaway, we all had a great time making new memories in destinations around the world. Cheryl, Natalie & Kerstin share their favorite travel memories below.

New Orleans, LA

My favorite summer travel memory is… The trip we do every year. I can’t imagine a summer without 4th of July in Telluride. Family, friends, small-town parade, hiking, awesome barbeque and fireworks and tons of kids (of all ages) having fun! Every year we head to Telluride to be with people we love and small town surprises around every corner. There is nothing better than the feeling in Telluride, where everyone says hello, stops for a chat and shares whatever is in his or her picnic basket.

French Quarter, New Orleans, LA

My favorite summer travel memory is… My first trip to New Orleans. It was so much fun to see the place where my husband used to live before we met and meet so many of his friends for the first time. Of course this is New Orleans, so we seemingly ate non-stop for 5 days and to this day I dream about the Gumbo at Coop’s Place. And the beignets! Seriously, could there be anything better than piping hot beignets, bathed in so much powdered sugar that you can barely make out the plate? I loved exploring the little shops, boutiques and galleries around the French Quarter, trying the famous crawfish and spending a lazy afternoon soaking in the sun in City Park.
Discovering the city like a local and not like a “typical tourist” made this trip extra memorable. I can’t wait to go back.

Retiro Park in Madrid, Spain

My favorite summer travel memory is…I had the pleasure of being in Barcelona for 2 weeks and while that trip was an amazing adventure, I opted to take the train to Madrid for a day/night over the weekend.
Madrid held the magic of a big city and the mystic of old world charm. After touring the city, I found myself at the Retiro Park. An expansive city within a city with live music, water, gardens and cafes. I found myself lost in the sights and sounds of something completely foreign and yet felt right at home.
